Stensjö Ägg

Stensjö Ägg keeps 18,000 hens and 60 roosters. The farm switched to egg production in 2010 and became KRAV-certified (Swedish organic) in 2014.

We have seen a significant reduction in ammonia emissions when the litter is treated with RhizoFerm, and fewer problems with poultry red mites. Combining RhizoFerm with the feed supplement AveFerm can yield a higher profit per flock.”

How RhizoFerm works in the hen house litter

The preparation consists of a complex consortium of natural, non-GMO microbes that rapidly take up nitrogen and other nutrients in their metabolism. The nitrogen is bound in amino acids, while the strains in RhizoFerm counteract putrefactive microbes by forming organic acids and lowering the pH. The best results are achieved when the preparation is misted out in small doses at intervals of 3–4 hours around the clock. In short, the technique is about making sure the fermentation culture dominates and steers the process in the litter. The image below shows a facility where vinegar is used – organic acids from living probiotic microbes work in a similar way but have a win-win effect, as they can also strengthen animal health.

AveFerm

Microbe Factory AveFerm consists of a complex consortium of live lactic acid bacteria that produce a range of probiotic and bioactive health-promoting substances, including antioxidants, vitamins, enzymes, organic acids and amino acids. AveFerm supports a healthy gut flora, strengthens the immune system and improves feed conversion.

AveFerm has delivered the following effects:

  • Faster egg weight gain
  • Better feed conversion
  • Less need for expensive concentrate feed
